The team is thrilled to welcome our Ruedx 2026 participating groups!
La Suerte Cuban dance school has been in Manchester for over 15 years, covering all aspects of Cuban dance from Son, Rumba, Orichas, Casino and Rueda de Casino.
The advanced Rueda de Casino performance team was formed just over 3 years ago, by Angelos, with the objective to share his Rueda knowledge and create new and fun ways of dancing. Whilst at the same time Angelos aspired to create a community group under the Solar banner in order to bring together folks from many schools.
But this all started when he saw Pauline and Lauren perform Rueda de Casino routine many years ago, so Lauren probably never realised what she unleashed in Angelos' mind. Lauren has been a long time dancer of Rueda de Casino and now a key member in both teams.
A few years ago Rikesh also found his way to La Suerte and is now a teacher and key member of both teams.
Together the trio somewhat accepted the mission to run RuedX 2026 and with the support of Michal (El jefe de La Suerte y guía espiritual) are welcoming you all to Manchester.
Community Rueda Portsmouth is a dedicated Rueda group formed from local Cuban dance communities in Portsmouth and the surrounding area. The community project is ‘led’ by a a few people and runs as a not for profit. We have on average 8-12 attend every week and are always looking to welcome new but experienced Cuban salsa dancers into the community.
Each week we have a 2 hour open session with semi structured workshop for the first hour, followed by more social Ruedas and calling practice/games.
The Serpiente series of moves links into our open sessions where we test new ideas and concepts. What will Serpiente 3.0 bring to RuedX 2026?!
We are a small group of committed Rueda lovers, we have a lot of fun and enjoy welcoming new people to join us. The group is run by Olga Taylor who started teaching Rueda when her teacher decided to stop teaching Rueda and handed over the baton. We enjoy tweaking regular moves which then make them special to our group
Both new and old to the scene in Bournemouth: Rueda Alegría was born from 1/2 of Rueda de Amistad in September 2025. Our style is rapid-called ruedas with flow, but also remembering to be silly and have fun! Meg loves to cause chaos, often (but not always) on purpose, with the expectation that we "fix it!" when it goes wrong (and if we can't we all just laugh and have a solo dance party) because in chaos there is joy!
Meg loves switch and different rueda structures, and enjoys combining different concepts to see how far she can push the rueda. Her group have learnt that "shower thoughts" are where a lot of her ideas come from!
We have a small, but friendly, community who attend weekly classes, and we also hold workshops every couple of months to do a deeper dive into concepts or structures, which are attended by dancers from across the south.
Barely hanging on but enjoying the ride!
Rueda Rosa Blanca has been going now since August 2023, so nearly two and a half years. Some of our group went to the same casino classes and were part a burgeoning demo/performance group in Leeds.
When the classes sadly closed in Leeds, a few of us felt a huge chasm had been left in our rueda de casino lives as there was nothing rueda-wise going on in our area.
This is when we decided to continue the demo group on our own and we've now done several demos for local W.I. groups and have more in the calendar for 2026.
We don’t do this for profit as any fees we get go towards the hire of studios for our practice sessions.
We don’t run classes as a group either, as all our members, (who now amount to around 18), and are already fairly experienced salseros, join by invitation.
We hope to build and improve on our experience and to hopefully increase awareness of our dance genre in the local community and share the joy we get from Cuban Salsa and Rueda.
As we're a relatively small group at the moment (numbering 18, but probably 8 to 10 regularly active members), we sometimes only number 4 or 6 at practice sessions. Consequently we've developed a liking particularly for dos parejas and practice it quite a lot! 😁
We don't have a leader of the group as such. We tend to share responsibility for social media, booking studios, practice times etc. and we wanted the group to be independent of any one particular person. Therefore we're trying to encourage everyone in the group to call ruedas. We haven't quite got there yet, but we're working on it!
It's great for us to be able to come to RuedX as it gives us a chance to practice more complex structures. You just can't do that with 4 or 6 people, although we do occasionally collaborate with other groups.
We love our little group and whenever we get together, wherever it is and however many people are there, there's one thing we're always sure of - and that's that we'll have loads of fun and a really good laugh!
Salsa Liverpool has been running for over 20 years, originally run By Karen Roja, her Son and Teachers who have been working with Karen, took over 18 months ago. We have a wide range of teachers leading to a diverse teaching style and the historic links mean we have a good class size so get to try bigger moves. Salsa Liverpool has kept Liverpool Cuban for decades and is at the heart of our vibrant salsa scene.
We also organise a yearly SRBK congress that we are pushing towards more cuban and rueda focussed. Let us know if you're interested and we'll get you a discount code.
There has been Rueda classes in Sheffield for years but this group started about a year and a half ago when a group of us started taking it more seriously. Travelling to other cities and spreading the rueda love. We have 3 main teachers, Daniel De Arriba, Sam Wright and Ivan Garcia (Hothouse Salsa). We have over 100 people in our WhatsApp group. We love sharing the calls for example on a 3x3x3 basis if there’s 3 of us calling, putting names of our people in moves when they link and also ensuring that the calls don’t assume that followers will be female and leaders men as we like to mix it up.
